Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the Climate Justice for Nepal website and your participation in the Climate Justice for Nepal Appeal. By using the website or submitting a signature, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. About the campaign
Climate Justice for Nepal is a people-led, non-partisan advocacy campaign calling for fair, urgent and accountable climate loss-and-damage finance for Nepal. The website provides campaign information, supporting materials and a facility to sign the appeal. It is not a government body, fundraising platform, legal service or emergency-response service.
2. Eligibility and authority
You may use the website only where permitted by applicable law. If you submit a signature or other information, you confirm that the information is yours, accurate and not misleading, and that you have authority to provide it. The service is not directed to children under 16. Anyone under 16 should participate only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Petition signatures
By signing the appeal, you:
- confirm that you genuinely support the appeal’s stated objectives;
- authorise us to record and count your signature;
- authorise us to use your name and country in campaign records, reporting and formal delivery of the appeal to relevant decision-makers;
- understand that your email address is used for verification and administration and is not displayed in the public signature count; and
- agree to submit only your own signature and not use false, disposable or unauthorised details.
Signing does not create a donation, payment obligation, membership, employment, agency relationship, entitlement to services or guarantee of any response or outcome.
4. Verification and moderation
We may use human-verification checks, technical safeguards, duplicate detection and administrative review. We may reject, suspend, correct or remove a signature or submission that we reasonably believe is duplicated, automated, fabricated, impersonated, unlawful, abusive, technically harmful or inconsistent with these Terms. The public counter may include a stated number of founding supporters and may be adjusted to correct errors or remove invalid entries.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- interfere with the website, its security controls, petition counter or administrative systems;
- submit signatures through bots, scripts, scraping tools or other automated means;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to data, accounts, infrastructure or restricted areas;
- upload or transmit malware, malicious code or content that violates another person’s rights;
- harass, threaten, impersonate or unlawfully discriminate against another person; or
- misrepresent your relationship with or endorsement by the campaign.
6. Campaign materials and intellectual property
The campaign’s original name, text, design, graphics and compilation of materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may share links to the appeal and use brief extracts for genuine, non-misleading advocacy, commentary or reporting with appropriate attribution. You must not present campaign materials as your own, alter them deceptively, use them commercially without permission, or imply endorsement that has not been given.
News videos, photographs, reports, trademarks and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners and are used or linked with attribution where appropriate. Nothing in these Terms transfers third-party rights to you.
7. Material provided to the campaign
If you provide a photograph, statement, translation or other material, you confirm that you have the right to provide it and that its use will not violate privacy, confidentiality, copyright or other rights. You grant the campaign a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to review, reproduce, adapt for formatting, publish, display and share that material for campaign, reporting and archival purposes. You retain ownership of your material. We may decline or remove material at our discretion.
8. Accuracy and third-party content
We aim to present campaign information responsibly and identify sources where practical. Disaster figures, estimates, institutional responses and other developing information may change. Content is provided for public information and advocacy and should not be treated as professional, legal, financial, scientific, medical or emergency advice.
Links and embedded content are provided for convenience and context. We do not control or endorse every statement, product, policy or practice of a third-party service.
9. Availability and campaign changes
We may update, correct, suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of the website or campaign, including the petition, public counter, content and features. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access, preservation of every submission, achievement of the signature goal, delivery on a particular date, or action by any petition recipient.
10. Disclaimer and limitation of responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the website and its content are provided on an “as available” basis without guarantees about availability, completeness, accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, the campaign and its organisers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the website or third-party services.
11. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for loss or claims arising from your unlawful misuse of the website, breach of these Terms, or infringement of another person’s rights through material you provide. This section does not apply to the extent a loss was caused by the campaign’s own unlawful conduct.
12. Privacy and cookies
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Our Cookies Policy explains the technologies used to operate and secure the website and support embedded content.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms when the website, campaign or law changes. The revised Terms will be published here with an updated effective date. Your continued use after publication means the revised Terms apply to future use. A signature already submitted remains governed by the terms and privacy information applicable when it was submitted, subject to lawful administrative and security measures.
14. General provisions
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. A delay in enforcing a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, together with the policies linked above, form the agreement governing use of this website. Mandatory rights and applicable laws in your place of residence continue to apply.
